An introvert who found her people
Who am I? I am a BL girl. Just like many of you, I am an introvert too. I have one or two close friends, and my life was just going on in a simple way.
Then BL dramas came into my life. Suddenly, my boring life started feeling colourful.
This was back in 2020; I was just watching a series at the time. Had no knowledge at all about BL dramas. While going through recommendations, The Untamed appeared in front of me. I thought I would just watch one episode. Before I knew it, I had finished all 50 episodes without even realising it.
That is when my BL journey really began because The Untamed introduced me to the existence of BL dramas. The Untamed is what started it all for me. I am so glad that I found it. 🥹
After that, the next BL series I watched was TharnType: The Series. Since then, I have watched many more BL dramas. I just cannot get enough of BL dramas. BL dramas are what I think about every day.
Now my day does not feel complete without BL dramas. Even talking about BL dramas. I have one or two friends who are not interested in BL, and they do not really understand how a girl can be so happy watching the romance between two boys. Only a real BL fan can truly understand that feeling. BL dramas are what bring me joy, and I love talking about them with BL fans.
To me, BL dramas are not just dramas. They are comfort. BL dramas brought emotions into my life and gave me something special to feel. They taught me much too. I learned a lot from BL dramas. I am grateful for that.
We may have started watching BL for entertainment. Somewhere along the way these stories became something more. BL dramas bring comfort, inspiration and a reminder that it is okay to be different, to make mistakes, to move forward and to be yourself just as you are. BL dramas are what make me feel better when I am down.
Comfort is a celebration of those feelings. It is a place where we can appreciate the stories and characters that stood by us during times and reminded us that we are never truly alone. BL dramas are my comfort. I am so glad that I found them.🌈
Honestly, my heart always wanted a place where I could talk to someone who truly understands BL dramas. I could not find a place other than this to share my thoughts openly, write from the heart and connect with people who love BL dramas just as much as I do. BL actually refers to “Boys’ LOVE”. It’s a very popular genre in the entertainment industry. In essence, it’s a drama that involves two male characters as the main protagonists.
It’s a truly romantic love story. Their romance is evident in every little thing they do, in their expressions, and in their gestures.
It’s a genre that originated in Japan, in the form of manga and novels. But nowadays, its popularity has grown worldwide. We can find these stories on various platforms. In countries like Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, excellent dramas and movies are produced every year.
History: Where did this journey begin?
This genre began in Japan during the 1970s, initiated by female artists. These female artists continued to create works in this style over time. Japan’s manga industry became extremely prosperous and influential during this period. By the end of the 1970s, many women around the world also started creating works in this genre.
Well, it can be said that this is a genre created specifically for women, by women. In the early 2000s, production companies decided to create this style of entertainment. This style can truly be brought to life on the big screen with creative techniques.
What’s the history of BL dramas?
Based on novels, “Takumi-kun Series: Soshite Harukaze ni Sasayaiteru” (2007) became the first notable live-action film based on these novels.
The world’s first official BL TV drama is considered to be Thailand’s “Love Sick: The Series” (2014). This show was the first to bring this genre out of the realm of movies and comics and into the form of a television series. It became a milestone in this genre, as it was the first series that focused entirely on the love story between two boys as its main plot.
BL dramas have become really special to us. What makes them so great?
At the heart of BL dramas, you have two boys falling in love. These stories are about so much more than just love. They are two people meeting, becoming close, dealing with problems, and working through their past. One of the things about these stories is seeing how the characters help each other feel better. Their love is a source of comfort, support and strength, showing us that being with someone we care about can make tough days more bearable.
